We're thrilled to bring you a unique, Indian Oolong tea from Bihar, a state not typically associated with tea. Indian Oolongs are a lighter oxidized version of their black tea counterparts. Best drunk without milk, they have a beautiful amber color with notes of roasted walnuts and molasses. The large leaves unravel when brewed, leaving behind a delicate, yet full-bodied tea.
This Indian Oolong is a cross between Assam and Darjeeling tea: the varietal comes from the Assamica tea leaf, but the processing technique is similar to that of Darjeeling teas.
To source this tea, we worked with the Doke Tea Estate, which sits on the eastern edge of Bihar, bordering West Bengal, home to Darjeeling. It’s the only premium, organic-certified tea estate in the state, and specializes in hand-made artisanal teas that have a nuanced flavor palette.
